The firm has its roots in the 1930’s, as Hirschfeld, Stern & Company, the first firm in New York City to focus on estate planning as a service separate from the legal profession. The addition of two partners in the early 1960’s resulted in the name change to Hirschfeld, Stern, Moyer & Ross.
In the 1970’s we expanded our focus to corporate clients to include retirement plans, group benefits and compensation matters, on a fee-for-service basis. We continued to provide life insurance consulting and underwriting for business and estate planning.
We became The Ross Companies when the remaining principals, Arnold and Norman Ross, assumed control in 1999. Our offices have always been in mid-town Manhattan – we have been in our present location in Rockefeller Center since 1987.
Since our inception, we have prided ourselves in being an innovative leader among New York–based consulting firms.
